About the Area
Just 2 kilometres from Champ Giraud is the historic, picturesque village of Verteuil-sur-Charente, with it's stunning chateau dominating the skyline. A thriving village, Verteuil has a Post Office, butcher, baker and general store, plus cafes, restaurants and bars. You can enjoy a morning coffee, leisurely lunch, aperitif or an evening meal, in the square or alongside the River Charente. Take time to wander around the quaint little streets and visit the church to see 16th century 'Mis au Tombeau' terracotta sculpture. Over the river is the park with a childrens' play area and picnic tables. If you fancy a game of tennis the village tennis court can be hired by the hour.
Ruffec is 7 kilometers away and has large supermarkets, banks, garages, car hire, cinema and cafes/restaurants and a good selection of independent shops.
